Heading with earth and cross logos and the article title of Hollywood and News Media

I believe that two of the greatest influences on our culture reside with the entertainment industry and with the News Media. And it seems that the majority of persons in both of these industries have the same liberal worldview.

I believe they lost their moral compass in the late 1960's with the onslaught of the sexual revolution. Before that cursing, nudity, and sexual immorality was either not shown or was only hinted at in the movies. I could list numerous classic movies which still hold up to this day yet contain none of the elements I just mentioned. It is interesting that the television shows of the early 1950's and 1960's are still some of the most popular shown on TV.

I remember when the former Vice-President, Dan Quayle, was raked over the coals when he mentioned that a popular television show at that time was wrong for showing a single, working woman who wanted and had a baby out of wedlock. I find it ironic that the star of that show recently came out and said that Dan Quayle was actually correct about this issue.

The movies used to show Christianity in a positive light. I was amazed at the number of times I saw a Christian praying or mentioning the name of God or Jesus in some of those movies. And of course there are also the great biblical epics that only Hollywood can produce. Nowadays if there is a "Christian" character shown in a movie or a television show they are usually portrayed as disreputable or mentally unstable.

Hollywood celebrities love to express their political opinions to the news media in this day and age. The results of these broadcast opinions seem to show that the majority of the members of the entertainment industry have a liberal worldview. It is fascinating when celebrities speak about the immorality of some political action yet their own lifestyles and movies are not shining examples of morality. They are entitled to speak out as are all Americans but I believe their liberal attitude comes out in a lot of the movies and entertainment they produce.

Hollywood, television, and the advertising business know that they influence people. They wouldn't spend billions of dollars each year not to influence you to purchase their product. There is some good news in the fact that family-friendly movies are doing a big business for the entertainment industry in recent years. I believe this is a small trend where the people are actually influencing the moviemakers. I hope this small trend turns into an onslaught and reverses the effects of the aforementioned sexual revolution.
