American Center For Law And Justice (ACLJ)

I believe that God has raised up an organization to be on the front lines of the Culture War that is taking place in America. This organization is called the "American Center for Law and Justice" (ACLJ). The ACLJ is a group of attorneys who are fighting in the courts to preserve the Judeo/Christian heritage of America by taking on groups like the "ACLU" and "People For the American Way".

The ACLJ was started by Pat Robertson, a Yale law school graduate and religious leader, in 1990. Their mission is to "serve the public through educational efforts regarding First Amendment and religious freedom issues as well as pro-family and pro-life concerns".

The ACLJ's Chief Counsel is Jay Sekulow. He has litigated several times before the Supreme Court of the United States. Some of the cases and issues that Mr. Sekulow and the ACLJ are involved with include:

Upholding the ban on partial-birth abortions
Defending the constitutionality of the Child Online Protection Act (COPA), which will protect children from online pornography
Keeping the Pledge of Allegiance intact with the words "under God" remaining in it
Defending the constitutionality of displaying the Ten Commandments on school and government property
Attempting to get the U.S. Senate to vote on all the judicial appointees with a yes or no vote
Defending the right of religious speech to be spoken on public transportation
Defending a teacher who was fired from her job after she wore a cross pendant on her clothing. She received her job back and there is no longer a prohibition against wearing religious jewelry
Allowing winners of government scholarships to major in theology
Getting the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute, a law that was meant to combat drug dealers and organized crime, to be declared unconstitutional when it is applied to the pro-life movement

They have also litigated on behalf of religious freedom in the public school system. A lot of school districts do not know that students have many religious freedoms that have been held constitutional by the courts. Part of the problem is that the schools have been given false or misleading information concerning religious rights by some of those who would seek to secularize America. The ACLJ writes letters to schools to explain what the students religious rights are whenever an issue concerning religion comes up.

As I stated above, the ACLJ is on the front lines when it comes to the culture war in America. It through the efforts of the ACLJ, the Rutherford Institute, and other organizations that are trying to preserve America's religious heritage, that the liberal agenda to secularize America has been slowed down.
